Kashif Iqbal Thalassaemia Care Centre (Trust)
I am the aggrieved father of Kashif Iqbal (Late) who was born with Thalassemia major. He was 16 years old when he left us. He died at such a young age because the disease was not treatable and could not be properly managed at that time. He passed away from Heart Failure that was caused by iron overload in his body.
I was a “Thalassemia Minor (carrier)” and my wife was also a Thalassemia Minor (Carrier). At that time we were not aware of what Thalassemia was and how we could get blood tests done before getting married, hence we faced the consequences. It is a long story of agony, sorrow & misery. Our only Son died in London after losing his battle against life after 16 years.
